Australian Business Migration
At Gateway Migration Solutions Pty Ltd we assist business executives, investors and individuals to relocate to Australia. We also help Australian employers to recruit staff from overseas on a business or temporary basis.
There are several categories of skilled and business visas. The main classes of visa are outlined below.
Please contact us should you require further information or, for example, if you wish to know whether you qualify for a temporary or permanent residency visa.
General Skilled Migration
If you have trade skills or professional qualifications, you may be eligible for migration to Australia under the General Skilled Migration program.
You need to fulfil the basic criteria and pass a points test under the Skilled Independent or Skilled Australian Sponsored visa categories.
However, if you do not pass the points test you could still be eligible if you:
- Participate in Skill Matching and are nominated by a State/Territory Government
- Are nominated by an employer under the Employer Nomination Scheme. However, you must first have obtained an offer of permanent employment from an Australian employer before applying for permanent residence under this scheme
- Have a close family member living in Australia who is willing to sponsor you.

Business Skills Migration Program
Australia is actively seeking to attract business migrants and offers a wide range of rewarding opportunities for business investors.
You and your family may qualify for temporary or permanent residence status if you meet the following requirements:-
- You are a business owner, senior executive or business investor and
- You are interested in:
- Setting up a new business in Australia
- Investing in Australia
- Becoming an owner of an existing Australian business
- Seeking foreign business partners in your business
On 1st March 2003 the Australian Government implemented a new two-stage process for Business Skills migrants:
- Successful business migrants are granted a Business Skills (Provisional) visa for four years, then;
- if the business is successful, the business migrant is eligible to make an application in Australia for a Business Skills (Residence) Visa which is of permanent residence status.
State Sponsored Visa
An important component of the Business Visa (Permanent Residence) is the State Sponsored Visa. Application for this type of visa involves the sponsorship of an individual by one of the Australian States. This avenue can be much easier than other approaches, particularly if the individual is intending to live in regional Australia. We can assist in developing a business case for this class of visa.
Four categories of business people are eligible for a Business Skills Visa:
- Business Owner
This provisional visa is valid for four years. The business Owner Residence Visa is for individuals who hold the Provisional Business Skills Visa and have successfully owned a business in Australia for at least two years. Applicants may be sponsored by State / Territory Government.
- Senior Executive of a major business
The provisional visa is valid for four years. Applicants may be sponsored by State / Territory Government.
- Business Investor in Australian business
The Provisional Visa is valid for four years. The Business Investor Residence Visa is for people who hold an Investor Provisional Visa. Again, applicants may be sponsored by a State / Territory Government.
- Business Talent
The Business Talent Migrant Visa is for high-calibre business people who own or partly own an overseas business and who have State or Territory Government sponsorship.
