Payment Policy

This guide provides you with vital information about our trading terms and payment policy.

General Payment Terms

Gateway Financial Partners requires full payment of all invoices within 14 days of the invoice being issued.

How May Payments Be Made

Gateway Financial Partners is committed to offering a wide range of payment options to ensure convenience to our diverse client base. You may pay your account using:

  • Cash;
  • Cheque;
  • Eftpos;
  • Visa/MasterCard;
  • Direct Credit;
  • Online via BPAY or
  • Via PayPal or Escrow (By prior arrangement)

Direct deduction from your trust Account and pre-payment of fees

In some circumstances you may be asked to pre-pay an amount that may either be by way of a retainer or an advanced payment (by way of security) for our fees and expenses.

Such payments will be placed into our trust account and may be utilised in the following manner:

  1. In respect of amounts expended for costs, disbursements, expenses or other amounts payable to third parties, you authorise Gateway Financial Partners to deduct those amounts from monies held in your trust account at any time for the purposes of reimbursing Gateway Financial Partners for amounts expended and/or making a direct payment to a third party; and
  2. Upon being invoiced, (under our standard Terms of Business), you authorise Gateway Financial Partners to deduct any monies owed for professional fees and/or other items as detailed in our invoice.

How will you be billed?

Our letter of engagement will detail the basis on which you will be billed for services provided by Gateway Financial Partners. In some cases, work will be billed on the basis of a fixed-fee or quotation. Where this occurs, we will clearly outline the services to be provided (and the costs for performing those services) in the letter of engagement. If further services are required (outside of those detailed in the letter of engagement) we will contact you to discuss an estimate of the additional costs and seek your instructions to undertake the further work. All other services provided will be billed on an hourly basis in accordance with our Terms of Business.

In addition, where Gateway Financial Partners has incurred fees payable to third parties (including costs and disbursements) as part of providing services to you, you will remain personally liable to pay Gateway Financial Partners for any and all services that you have asked Gateway Financial Partners to incur on your behalf.

Unpaid Invoices?

If you cannot pay your invoice within 14 days, please contact our office to discuss a suitable arrangement for payment of the amounts outstanding.

In the event that no suitable arrangement for payment can be made, we reserve the right to cease acting for you and to retain any works already undertaken by way of lien.

We also reserve the right to charge interest on all outstanding amounts (including fees, costs and disbursements) at a rate equivalent to 24% per annum (calculated and accrued based on a daily rate).

Goods and Services Tax

Under Commonwealth Law, all services (unless otherwise stated) will attract Goods and Services Tax.

Credit Enquires

From time to time, it may be necessary for Gateway Financial Partners to make enquiries to a credit reporting agency and to provide such agencies with your personal information. As outlined in our Terms of Business you authorise Gateway Financial Partners (and its employees) to make such enquiries (including the release of your personal information) as it deems necessary.

As a valued client of Gateway Financial Partners, we encourage you to contact us if you have any issues relating to billing or the payment of invoices. Where possible, we aim to work with you to towards mutually satisfactory arrangements and to quickly resolve any concerns that you may have.
